Mestinon® (pyridostigmine bromide)
Mestinon® (pyridostigmine bromide) is an oral acetylcholinesterase inhibitor indicated for symptomatic relief in patients with Myasthenia Gravis (MG), a neuromuscular disease leading to fluctuating muscle weakness and fatigue. Mestinon® has been used for more than 50 years and continues to be the most widely used first-line treatment for generalized and ocular MG. Mestinon® is effective as long-term treatment of milder, especially ocular, myasthenia gravis through its fast acting, tolerable action.

In line with our strong foundation in Neurology, INVIDA set up the Specialist Interest Group of Myasthenia Gravis in Asia (SIGMA) in 2009. This special interest group brings together top neurologists from around the region to discuss diagnosis and treatment practices of Myasthenia Gravis. A publication entitled “Good Clinical Practice Points on the use of Acetylcholinesterase Inhibitors in Myasthenia Gravis: Recommendations from the Asian Regional Special Interest Group on Myasthenia Gravis” was published in Neurology Asia which provides recommendation on treatment for patients.

In an effort to create disease awareness of MG, SIGMA recently developed an information website to provide patients and physicians in Asia information about the disease www.myasthenia.asia
